Yesterday I take the time to experiment a bit with my flash equipment. I setup a small glass cube, filled with water, covered the three side with standard laser printer paper and put two flashes (Nikon SB26 and SB800) on the two sides. The paper basically is used to get a diffused light and reduce reflections. The camera, mounted on a tripod, sync by a cable connection to the SB800 why the SB26 fire remotely by a build in light sensor. Then I start to drop things in to the water and try to catch the right moment to release the shutter with a cable release. It is a kind of ‘try and error’ to get the right moment and right position to trop and shoot. First I placed a cup in the cube to adjust the frame, get the right focus and deep of field. After several test shots I used ISO 200, 250/s and f/16 at the camera and both flashes was set to ISO 100, output power set to 1/16 and use the build in wide-flash adapter. On the photo beside you can see how the setup looks like, also the SB26 fire triggered by the flash of my point and shoot camera I used. First I used one or more strawberries and later try even other things. Here 6 of the best shots I got:
